23-079 | City of Chattanooga - Fire Station 10 Concrete Drive

Updated: Feb 25

Chattanooga, TN | Nov 2023 - Feb 2024

Working with the City of Chattanooga, JBrennon embarked upon its first municipal project within the Scenic City. Scope of work consisted of existing slab demolition and steel removal, curbs, and sidewalks; undercutting and construction of a new compacted stone subgrade; construction of new epoxy coated, reinforced monolithic concrete driveway inclusive drilled and doweled, epoxied, and greased alignment dowels, and cleaning/sealing/caulking of concrete joints. Prior to mobilization, JBrennon suggested increasing the size of the rebar and PSI strength of the concrete to handle shallower expansion joints, thus serving the Fire Station and its trucks better for the long-haul which the City agreed to and accepted. From mobilization, JBrennon battled inclement weather, looking for a pour date with sufficient weather minimums and was surprised by an ice storm and unusual freeze which required immediate steps following the concrete placement to maintain temperature curing specs at or above mins for five days. The project was finished a month ahead of schedule and delivered well above City specification. If your organization requires plant or facility upgrades and need specialized concrete work performed, please complete our Project Evaluation Form and we will reply with next steps!
