This design-build opportunity arose from JBrennon's recommendation to EPB Chattanooga that a conceptual, design-build approach should be offered to select vendors for competition and construction of a new operations center in Chattanooga, TN. JBrennon and The Architecture Collaborative (TAC) of Knoxville, TN, teamed up with a variety of engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to propose upon the site development near Volkswagen Chattanooga. Though JBrennon was not selected, it was a finalist. The design-build proposal included the below details for our proposed, LEED Gold certified building and out parcel developments:
The new, sustainably designed EBP East Operations Facility will be located on a 17.138-acre parcel at 7362 Volkswagen Drive (south side), east of Bonny Oaks Drive in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The project requires site clearing and demolition, grading, building construction, parking, sidewalks, walls, drainage, utilities, landscaping, and other infrastructure improvements. Construction includes:
5,800 SF 1-story conditioned and sprinkled, conventional-build office building
26,500 SF natural gas heated, and sprinkled warehouse PEMB storage building connected to the 5,800 SF 1-story office building
2,500 SF natural gas heated PEMB maintenance shop
69,518 SF covered and dry sprinkled dock and vehicle parking PEMB type structure; includes:
(40) 2 covered dock parking spaces (12’ x 30’)
Two (2) 4 covered dock parking for up to 73’ tractor-trailer deliveries
Twenty (20) covered parking for 13’ x 30’ spaces (Large Trucks)
Forty-two (42) covered parking for 9’ x 20’ spaces (Fiber Vans and other fleet vehicles)
Eight (8) vehicle charging stations included in covered parking for fleet vehicles at 59,100 SF covered storage area of PEMB type structure
77,000 SF gravel outside storage laydown area
102 employee parking spaces
Solar orientation for maximum solar panel design
LEED BD+C Gold Certification
Furnishings for Offices, Command Center, Locker Rooms & Fitness Center
Outdoor employee patio amenities for breaks and fitness activities
Native-no irrigation landscape design
The office building will be rated for a windshear of 115 mph with a shelter component up to 200 mph and designed to a LEED BD+C Gold Certification standard. Key features of the site design include:
Solar panels that can provide approximately 12% of the facilities connected power load
(12) Electric vehicle charging stations for fleet and employee parking
Energy management system required for commissioning
Locally sourced siding less than 200 miles from the jobsite
Native/adapted landscaping
Daylighting through skylights at storage warehouse & sky views in offices
Comments
